KW FARM SERVICES Started in 1989 as a tractor and machinery dealership with a manufacturing department. The business steadily grew with Renault Tractors and Merlo Telehandlers being the main franchises, alongside our own manufacturing department constructing other farm implements, folding roll frames and potato equipment were very popular lines i.e .conveyors, elevators, hoppers and graders.
Mixed family farms with stock and potatoes all fed the waste to cattle with their conventional auger buckets but often stones were a real problem for this type of fixed knife machine. In 2000 we made a static PTO driven potato/beet chopper with a 4 foot roller and a spring loaded flap to allow stones to pass through without causing damage, however we still felt there were improvements we could make.
At this point we developed a new type of auger bucket and as loaders increased in size speed was crucial, by adding another roller with spring tension to the previously used system from the static machine the chop size became more controllable. Customers loved the spring action allowing the rollers to part releasing large stones, crucially preventing the risk of cattle choking.
The Auger Bucket with rollers can also deliver meal, nuts and even maize silage without adjustment.
The system remains largely unchanged with a range of sizes and individual bracket requirements met. Our innovation has not gone unnoticed as the Auger Bucket has won awards in England and Scotland.
In addition to the conventional stock feed use the machine has now been used in biogas digester plants who need a very fine chop, also the seed industry to separate seeds from heads and commercial waste.
Further trials continue on a competitively priced beet cleaner/washer for digesters and dairy cattle fed
